Jesus the Victor

Colossians 2:10 and God has made you complete in Christ. Christ is in charge of every ruler and authority.

Having connections is the way to get things done in this world. Knowing someone who can help overcome a problem or lend their expertise is the framework for being successful.

This verse almost seems unconnected, I’m complete because of Jesus so what does that have to do with rulers and authorities? Paul’s picture of our connection could say enough by pointing out that God the Father and God the Son are the God we are connected to “in Christ.” However for any of those lingering thoughts that venture beyond Godly matters, as if that were not enough, Paul adds on to a thought he already put out in 1:16 that all of this world’s rulers are under Jesus as well.

His kingdom was established on the throne of the cross. We are not waiting for it to be accomplished and we are not waiting till we are connected to that kingdom, we are! When we look around us in this world we should not see sin as the victor but the conquered. Our witness to others should not be that Christ could die for them, He already has.

Complete victory because we are complete in Christ, victorious in heaven and on earth!
