Readings for June 14

“So great is your power that your enemies come cringing to you.” Psalm 66:3b

Sometimes I get on an anime kick with spectacular, over-the-top battles between master warriors.  Power is an essential element, sensing power, measuring power, focusing power, expending power.  Here the power of God is so great that the enemies do not run away, they know there is no point.  The enemies do not hide, they will be found.  The enemies come cringing TO YOU, that’s true power, knowing that about their enemy, that the only pathway left is to cower before God.

“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.”  Proverbs 14:12

Doing the best I can, figuring it out as I go, making my own way, do good and good will come to you – sentiments of a mistaken world.  We cannot make our own way, we may even think we have figured out a way that seems right but they all lead nowhere without the guidance that comes from God’s word.  It is a clear distinction throughout the Word of God there is curse or blessing, death or life, bad or good and only one person is dealing in blessing, life and good which is God, especially in His actions as Jesus Christ.
