Readings for Saturday Easter 5

Leviticus 26:30 ‘my soul abhors you’

This phrase is dire enough as it is since the speaker is God but I found it interesting that God speaks of having a soul. Isn’t that a little strange?

Luke 14:23 compel them to come in that my house may be filled

Compel, it is so important that the wedding feast be full that God’s servant are asked to compel people to come. Compel is a strong word, sounds like Gods servant are doing anything, nearly dragging people to the feast. Tells me that most outreach strategies dont recognize the severity of the problem or have the tenacity needed to approach anything like the word compel.
