Readings for Monday-Easter 4

Prism- white light and spectrum

Luke 9

I’ve always pictured the transfiguration as a peek into heaven.  Like the mystery of the God made into flesh is peeled away for a moment leaving only divine, pure light.  Regardless of how bright our visible light or how pure and powerful science can make light, I think this light would have been beyond anything in this world.  A spectrum of such complete light and yet not deadly to the disciples, perhaps they were burned by it, they were at least dumbstruck.  What an amazing light!  Thankfully Jesus didn’t stay there instead of continuing on to Jerusalem and the cross.  That glimpse of heaven would have remained only an inaccessible light had Jesus never given Himself to the cross for us.
