When Jacob learned that there was grain for sale in Egypt… Genesis 42:1a

God’s blessings are present even if they are not obvious. There was a famine. Jacob was suffering, and the wounds of the loss of a son were still evident as he protects Benjamin from a journey to Egypt. Jacob could not know that the rumors that had floated all the way up to Canaan on the trade routes were really about his son. The one behind them was the one Jacob had mourned for all these years. Joseph was the one who provided the grain in Egypt. But they would be blessed because of his and truly God’s work too. Blessings are not a simple thing to see and maybe twice as hard to recognize their ultimate source in God.
