“No one who wants to be saved is free to remain alone” CFW Walther

Faith and deliberate prolonged solitude do not go together.  Faith is not an organism that grows on a constant diet of isolation.  Faith in Jesus Christ, by its very nature seeks out other people recognizing on the one hand that they are just as messed up as we are by sin and secondly that they are just as much loved by God as we are.  The Trinity is the beginning of the message that we are meant for community.  The image of God and the forgiveness through Jesus Christ are built for community.  Faith also calls us to roll up our sleaves to serve, to heal, to hunker down and work in the thankless and harsh reality of a world completely broken by the pain of seclusion that sin brings.
