Readings for March 4th

“He did not say this of his own accord, but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation, and not for the nation only, but also to gather into one the children of God who are scattered abroad.” John 11:51

The high priest says this without even believing in the Messiah that stood before him, the one he would help to send on to his death. However the death of this particular person, who must have seemed like a colossal trouble maker having a very peculiar interpretation of the Torah, was precisely what God the Father had in mind. This was the death that would bring about the ingathering of the nations. Opening the doors of the Gospel to everyone. I am a children of God scattered abroad!
