Readings for March 3rd

Where does your faith stop?

“Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man also have kept this man from dying?” John 11:37

“Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” John 11:32

Jesus can only do so much, at least according to these comments. He has power but only up to a certain point. Apparently death is too much for even Jesus. We put a limit on God and mark a line in our lives at which point we either think there is no hope or it’s up to us to figure it out. There’s evidence that we have put a limit to God’s ability to handle the difficulties in our lives. The evidence is the fact that we think we can make the best decision without God’s input or that we wait until we are in deep before we pray.

The evidence is that we live our lives like this is the only one- grabbing up and hoarding what we can, surrounding ourselves with comfort and protection from an evil that has no power over us, we take on enemies that have already fallen and depend on Jesus for so little that we make up miracles that could have happened to make ourselves feel better about our faith, “if you had been there.”

He is present and He is powerful, more powerful than death. Live like He is!
