Readings for February 9th

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”  John 3:16

John 3:16 has about 131 bytes of information.  A gigabyte has the ability to store  1,073,741,824 bytes of information. The information contained within the 131 bytes of John 3:16 is infinitesimally small compared to a rather small storage capacity on a thumb drive and yet we these words contain incredible power.  Is that so hard to believe?
We live in an information age when knowledge is power, when ownership of information is disputed and litigated and they are only a collection of bytes.  Most of us have felt the destructive force of a computer virus, a small amount of bytes with a bite.  So alongside of these evils isn’t it possible that the 131 bytes of John 3:16 could have a power to touch upon eternity?
