Readings for January 28th

Romans 16:20 “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.  The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.”

This verse just stood out for me.  Imagine hearing this as a benediction at the end of worship service.  Might do some good in case our usual words make it sound like Christians are just playing nice.  What I find interesting is the mix of images used in this verse “The God of peace” is the one doing the crushing.  It is a great image and I think it is saying peace comes by that crushing, it gives peace because evil is destroyed.  More interesting is the means of that crushing “under your feet.”  Paul says that the preaching of Christ is that means.  Sharing Christ, crushing Satan.
