Readings for January 27th

Golden Mouthed.  What does that make you think of?  I picture a gangsta whose teeth are covered in golden crowns.  But John “Golden Mouthed” which is what John Chrysostom means.  The nickname didn’t reflect the look of his mouth, he got the nickname because of how he spoke.  I keep hearing a lot about gold and the price of gold and investing in gold but this kind of gold is more valuable.  Speaking words that strengthen and guide and heal are much more valuable then possessions that possess us and can be stolen, lost or enslave.

What no one would do for friends…He did, He died for such ungrateful, such obstinate creatures, this it is which strikes every mind with amazement.  For what men would not do for their fellow men, that has God done for us! – John Chrysostom
