Readings for January 8th

“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork” Psalm 19:1.  What a great place to start!  God’s creation can be the beginning of a conversation about God.  In other words, anytime I am out in creation: running, hiking, swimming, fishing, hunting or whatever else I am in a great tool for introducing someone to God.  “I wonder” seems like a good way to start that move to talking about God.

  1. I loved how the readings today compared the decrees of God to honey. See the Psalmody verse 10 :More to be desired are they (the decrees of God)than gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Then also in Ezekiel 3:3 :And he said to me, “Son of man, feed your belly with this scroll (God’s word) that I give you and fill your stomach with it.” Then I ate it, and it was in my mouth as sweet as honey.
